 TFS is only available with one standard coating which is equal on both sides

 

Features

• TFS has excellent lacquer adhesion properties allowing use for food cans, beverage cans and general line cans.
• Excellent resistance to black sulfide stain makes it the most suitable material for making fish cans.
• Even when the same surface finish as TIN PLATE is applied to the substrate steel sheet,
  it provides the unique surface luster characteristic of metallic chromium.

Coating Structure

Tin Free Steel (TFS) is produced by applying electrolytic chromic acid treatment over steel sheets so that they are coated by a thin film composed of lower layer metallic chromium and upper layer chromium hydroxide.

 

 

Properties

 

Compated with ETP, it has special properties:

Appearance:
TFS wil show its particular luster of chromium metal due to diferent appearances between TFS and ETP, even
they are in the same finish state.
Corrosion resistance:
Painted TFS has an excellent characteristic of corrosion resistance, therefore, TFS is painted with doublesides usually. It can also be unpainted internal depending on the contents.
Solderability:
TFS is not suitable for soldering
Weldability:
TFS has a poorer weldability than ETP even though removed the chromium metal coating layer of TFs.
Coating weight:
TFS is only manufactured according to one type of coating thickness, while ETP can be manufactured with aseries of tin coating thickness standard

Classification

Classification by Type of Steel

The hardness of less than 0.21mm in nominal thickness is normally tested using Rockwell 15T scale and results converted to Rockwell 30T scale.The temper grade of DR(Double Reduced) BP(Black Plate) shall be expressed by the Rockwell superficial hardness values(HR30Tm) or 0.2% average Yield Strength.
