Chromium plating layer is non-amphoteric material, more suitable for alkaline contents such as packaging cleaners, pigment dispersants.

Comparing electroplated tin plates, due to the different characteristics of the tin layer and the chromium layer, there are the following differences:
(1) Appearance
Even if the substrate with the same surface state of the tin plate is used, due to the extremely thin and transparent chromium plating layer, such as 70mg/m2 metal chromium layer ≈0.01μm, the surface appearance of TFS presents its unique metallic chromium luster, but the surface defects will be at a glance
(2) Corrosion resistance
Slightly worse than the tin plate, can not withstand higher concentration of acid and alkali erosion, so the manufacture of food cans, the need for a thicker internal and external coating layer, usually TFS must be printed on both sides. The adhesion of the organic coating is 3~6 times higher than that of the tin plate, and the TFS after printing has excellent corrosion resistance, and the corrosion resistance is almost equal to that of the tin plate, which can save the expensive metal tin and reduce the cost
(3) Brazing
TFS can not be brazed, so it can not be used in some occasions that require tin brazing, such as some electronic products
(4) Weldability
Even if the metal chrome layer is removed, TFS can be welded, but the weldability is poor than the tin plate, the current three-piece tank widely used resistance welding technology, so TFS generally can not be used for three-piece tank manufacturing, in non-welding applications such as base cover, crown cover, DRD tank and bonding tank market segments widely replace electroplating tin
(5) Coating weight
Chromium plating layer is generally only a single coating thickness standard, and tin plating products have a series of thickness standards to meet different use occasions. The following table is the requirements of Q/BQB455-2018, and the coating is composed of two parts: metallic chromium coating and chromium oxide coating
(6) Processing and forming performance
Roughly the same as the tin plate, because of its thin chromium layer thickness, poor toughness, can processing, easy to crack or scratch, need to be recoated to prevent rust, in addition, when sealing the edge of the sealing line is easy to rust, this sealing should generally take the following measures: sealing machine pressure head to the bottom of the tray distance should be adjusted properly; The groove of the flange roller should not be worn or rusted; Chrome-plated edge roller, 5 ~ 10 microns thick; The pressure and shape of the flange roller should be appropriate.
