Metal jacketing is installed over insulation in order to mechanically protect and to weatherproof it. It is supplied in coils or rolls for further fabrication, or in roll formed sheets to clad equipment such as boilers, vessels, ducts and stacks. 1.Aluminium Jacketing
Aluminium Jacketing is available in a large range of alloys, in accordance with ASTM B209. The most commonly used alloy is alloy 3003.
*1000 series
These are essentially pure aluminium with a minimum 99% aluminium content by weight.
*3000 series
Alloyed with manganese (Mn) as the main alloying element. Alloy 3003 is alloyed with additional copper (Cu), Alloy 3105 and Alloy 3005 with magnesium (Mg).
*5000 series
Magnesium (Mg) is the alloying element, and therefore offers superb corrosion resistance.
2.Aluminium Zinc Coated Steel (Aluzinc®/Galvalume®) AZ185 AFP
This is a flat carbon steel product coated on both sides with an aluminium-zinc alloy. The coating is composed of 55% aluminium, 43.4% zinc and 1.6% silicon and applied by means of a continuous hot dip galvanizing process. It exhibits superior corrosion resistance when compared to hot dip zinc coated steel.
3.Aluminized Steel AS240-AS270-AS300
ASTM A463 Type 1 describes two types of aluminized steel. Aluminized Steel Type 1 is a flat carbon steel coated with an aluminium-silicon metallic layer. Aluminized Steel Type 2 incorporates a layer of commercially pure aluminium.
Coating comprises of an aluminium-silicon layer containing 5 to 11% silicone. Intended for use in heat resistant applications. Exhibits poor corrosion resistance in neutral salt spray tests when compared to Type 2, especially in the silicone phase in an aluminium surrounding. Typically coil coated on both sides to improve emissivity and corrosion resistance.
Product Characteristics
A. High temperature resistance: Because of the special combination of steel plate substrate and coating structure, an iron-aluminum alloy is formed, which makes the aluminized plate have excellent high temperature resistance. High reflectivity can be guaranteed at 450 C. When the temperature is higher than 480 C, the appearance of the coating is grey. The protective layer against oxidation of steel sheet is still well preserved at 650 C without any falling off.
B. Heat Reflectivity: At 480 degrees Celsius, the aluminized sheet can reflect 80% of the heat input. Therefore, the aluminized sheet can be used as an efficient heat insulation barrier or a heat reflector in high temperature applications, which can rapidly increase the temperature in the furnace by effective heat reflection.
C. Mechanical Strength: At room temperature, the mechanical strength of aluminized sheet is the same as that of its base material. At the same temperature of 480 C, the strength of aluminized steel sheet is 10 times than that of aluminium sheet, so the thickness of steel sheet can be reduced by at least 30%.
D. Corrosion resistance: During hot dipping, molten aluminium reacts immediately with oxygen in the air to form an Al2O3 protective layer, which passivates the surface of steel plate immediately. The protective layer is very stable and insoluble in water. Even if the surface of the steel plate is scratched later, the protective layer has self-healing function. Therefore, the aluminized sheet has very strong corrosion resistance to chemical corrosion.
E. Ecological characteristics: Aluminum-Coated-Silicon Steel Sheet without chemical passivation has no effect on health, so it can be used in food processing. Testing reports from many professional groups confirm that it is environmentally friendly. Aluminum plated sheet can be recycled completely. Aluminum plated sheet can be comparable to stainless steel, but the price is only about one third of that of stainless steel. It is widely used in automobiles, motorcycle mufflers, exhaust pipes and fuel tanks. 2. Burning furnace, heat exchanger, dryer, air conditioner, etc. 3. Household water heaters, gas stoves, breadboxes, chimneys, microwave ovens, food processing machinery, electric ovens, cooking utensils. It can also be used for building covers, walls, roofs and other insulation components.
F. Others: Standard MAG and TIG welding can be used. It can be used for drawing, stamping, drawing and other forming processes. Coatings have durable gloss, better corrosion resistance and weathering resistance
